The STEM Funders Network (SFN) is comprised of a diverse mix of more than 20 education-focused private and corporate foundations who are working together to increase the knowledge and expertise of grantmakers investing in STEM, leverage their collective resources, and collaborate on high-impact projects they could not undertake alone.

SFN’s vision is that every young person have an equitable opportunity to engage in high-quality STEM learning experiences that will enhance their ability to succeed in a STEM career or other chosen path.

SFN’s mission is to bring together grantmakers working in STEM to learn from one another, leverage their collective resources and collaborate on high-impact projects they could not undertake alone.

SFN has four foundational principles that are infused throughout the network’s activities:

  1. The STEM disciplines should not be in separate silos; rather they must be integrated through a continuum of learning and a dynamic framework.
  2. STEM literacy emerges across learning settings and throughout one’s lifetime. No one sector or setting can provide the comprehensive experiences and content needed to achieve STEM literacy.
  3. Advancements and innovations in STEM education should connect directly to the changing needs of the STEM workforce.
  4. SFN’s activities and projects are informed by research and will be evaluated for their effectiveness and impact.
