Paula Golden cultivates partnerships between businesses, community non-profits, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in order to empower women and underrepresented youth with the 21st century skills and computational thinking they need to succeed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Paula is a leader in the National STEM Funders Network and Strategic Advisory Counsel of the STEM Education Ecosystem Initiative that encourage collaboration among STEM funders, advocates, and educators throughout the United States and abroad.
Paula spearheaded world-renowned middle-school science fair competitions Broadcom MASTERS® and Broadcom MASTERS® International from 2010 to 2022, which informed Broadcom Foundation’s expanding its partnership with Raspberry Pi Foundation to increase Code Clubs in underserved communities and sponsorship of Coolest Projects Global. Code Clubs are designed to embed coding as a critical skill of a digitally literate workforce prepared to engage in the rapid transfer of science and technology (S&T) for design and manufacture of innovative technologies, processes, and methods essential to everyday life, such as software and chip design, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), genetic engineering, quantum computing, and the digital arts.
Paula is leading the Broadcom Foundation’s latest initiative, Broadcom Coding with Commitment™, to inspire young people to “think globally and act locally” by combining their STE(A)M knowledge with coding and computational thinking to solve a community problem they care about and that aligns with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Paula earned her B.A. in English and Education from Wellesley College and her J.D. cum laude from New England School of Law, where she served as Assistant Dean and Instructor of Law. Paula is a thought leader who has hosted community cablevision in Boston and Los Angeles, presented at TEDx, blogged for the Huffington Post, The Hill, Medium, and US Today, and is a regional Emmy Finalist in the Community Service category. She utilizes media relations and social networking to advocate digital literacy as an essential element for creating a viable global workforce, ensuring sustainability, and improving quality of life for all.
Paula’s contributions to non-profit thought leadership and to creating inclusion and equality in STEM education have been widely recognized, including awards and accolades from the University of California at Irvine, Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN), the Discovery Cube of Orange County, and the Women in Defense (WID).
