Kareen Borders, Ed.D.

Dr. Kareen Borders is an award-winning educational leader and is the Director of STEM Instruction and Outreach for South Kitsap School District and the Director of the West Sound STEM Network. Dr. Borders is a University of Washington graduate with a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Her research includes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education reform with a focus on the poverty opportunity gap and how sustained teacher professional development and leadership; deep and meaningful partnerships with industry; and experiential college and career ready opportunities for teachers and students can foster 21st century skills and can provide equitable access and opportunities for all students. With an a strong adherence to social justice, Dr. Borders holds the foundational belief that a key component to a future ready nation is to ensure all students have access to experiences, education, and opportunities that support them to be college and career-ready.
