LaTrenda Leonard Sherrill serves as the Working Group Strategist of the Pittsburgh Regional STEAM Ecosystem, powered by the Remake Learning Network. She is committed to increasing racial equity and access in STEM, particularly computer science in the Greater Pittsburgh region. Before joining Remake Learning, LaTrenda served in the administration of Mayor William Peduto, as Deputy Chief, Education, where she managed two White House-initiated projects: My Brother’s Keeper and Tech Hire and helped to transform the city’s summer youth employment program from a $1 million dollar initiative to an over $5 million dollar regional investment. Prior to joining Mayor Peduto’s administration, she worked in communications for the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline and previously served in a variety of project management roles for nonprofits in the Pittsburgh region.

A dedicated community leader, LaTrenda has raised nearly $8 million for efforts and initiatives in the Pittsburgh region through her professional and volunteer endeavors, including a recent $500,000 grant to expand Computer Science implementation in the Pittsburgh region from the PA Department of Education. She currently serves as Board Vice President for Trying Together, an organization that advocates for high-quality care and education for young children, and as a member of the Learn and Earn Oversight Committee, supporting the region’s summer youth employment program. In addition, she is a committed volunteer of the Bartko Foundation, which provides grant funds to mothers of color working toward self-sufficiency, and of Black Women for Better Education, a community action effort focusing on substantially improving the quality of education for Black children in Pittsburgh’s schools.
