Jo-Ann worked at Science World, Vancouver, BC, Canada for 22 years. She started out as a science facilitator, became a manager and then a director of outreach for 17 of those years. She is now a one person HR department at a rapidly growing company that creates digital interactive experiences for places like Science World. Her career to date has prepared her well to co-lead STEAMecosystemBC. With a wide network of solid and long-term connections from around the province of British Columbia she had well established relationships to lean on and work with. Jo-Ann understood that as a province wide initiative STEAMecosystemBC would only succeed with a strong network of diverse partnerships. It is currently run by a group of 10 volunteers from 9 organisations from all around BC. Working on STEAMecosystemBC has been the rewarding challenge Jo-Ann has been looking for. It has provided her and the team with the opportunity to work towards providing equal access to STEAM resources for all in BC, something she noticed was missing in her many years of outreach.
