Ecosystem Spotlight: Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance

The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance (TRSA) encourages business/industry and the education community to create innovative pathways to develop a skilled STEM workforce in the Tulsa region. Most recently, TRSA hosted a wildly successful STEM SOLE Energy Event–that’s SOLE as in Self-Organized Learning Experience–drawing classroom participants from Oklahoma to Louisiana. Inspired by a STEM Ecosystems-facilitated workshop session with the Central Oklahoma and North Louisiana STEM Alliances, TRSA planned a SOLE focused on the energy sector, given the region’s energy-driven economy. On November 3, more than 300 students, led by 10 educators in a multitude of districts, dedicated an hour to helping students explore critical energy-related questions. Regional educators, the Oklahoma Energy Resource Board, energy experts and other STEM stakeholders weighed in on the questions.
