Critical need

The COVID-19 pandemic that has crippled the world is the latest reminder why there is a critical need for more great minds to enter STEM professions and love the challenges.

We’ve known for years that it is vital for more people to enter STEM disciplines but only recently acted to provide access to STEM from multiple sources, community colleges, early college high schools, STEM Model Schools and more. From this nascent pipeline, we need to get scientists, engineers, big thinkers who are going to be able to lead our world and solve the nation’s grandest of challenges.

The STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice, a collaboration of 89 ecosystems worldwide, has been working to improve STEM opportunities for all and to create stronger pipelines of STEM talent.

With a total reach of about 40 million students, the STEM Learning Ecosystems works to ensure that all who touch a student are engaged, aligned and ready to steer the student into a STEM discipline.

The work of the STEM Learning Ecosystems is making a tremendous difference in communities and in the lives of students, especially those from some of the most economically challenged regions of our world.
