Big Data for Little Kids

A project to design and develop a curriculum to deepen understanding of how young children between 5 and 8 years-old define, collect, represent, and interpret data and how parents engage with children in data inquiry activities in informal learning environments.

Big Data for Little Kids was an “Ecosystem to Ecosystem – E2E” workshop held at the Fall 2018 STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice Convening in Newport Beach, CA in November 2018.

Newark STEM Ecosystem: Cultivating Innovation, One Student at a Time

The Newark STEM Ecosystem held its second annual convening on January 16, 2025 on the campus of NJIT, bringing together over 130 members from 87 cross-sector partners including education, industry, government, and community organizations. Leadership from both NJIT and Rutgers University-Newark kicked off the event, which featured presentations on innovative approaches to STEM education, including using LEGO for hands-on learning and data visualization tools for decision-making.
