University of Pittsburgh student majoring in marketing and supply management
“Thanks to my experiences with Investing Now, I already have the sense of needing to work hard for things instead of just having them be given to me.”
Lexis Wright is studying marketing and supply management at University of Pittsburgh, but that wasn’t always the path that she thought she would pursue in college.
As an incoming high school freshman, she entered a pre-college STEM program, Invest Now of Pittsburgh, convinced that her future was in a STEM discipline.
“I thought that industrial engineering or biomedical engineering was going to be something that was meant for me,” she said, explaining that her pre-college STEM program helped her understand that this course of study was not what she wanted. “If I’d gone to college to study that, I would have been lost. I would’ve been confused.”
Although her experiences with the program convinced her to choose a course of study outside of STEM, she said the experience was incredibly valuable for teaching her studying and social skills as well as professional norms.
“From just like a holistic perspective and growth – I think my experiences with Invest Now definitely set me apart from my peers and the fact that whenever it comes to like professionalism and and just maturity,” she said.
