Mid America STEM Alliance

About

The Mid America STEM Alliance is a collaborative initiative designed to ensure that area youth have opportunities and resources available to them to discover and develop STEM related skill sets that are aligned with educational and career pathways. The Alliance is comprised of seventeen public school districts, area employers, business professionals, post-secondary education institutions, state and tribal agencies and is coordinated by MidAmerica Industrial Park’s workforce development program, MidAmerica Delivers.

Key Programs

MidAmerica STEM Initiative: The MidAmerica Industrial Park has invested $2.5MM to install best in-class STEM Labs at seventeen area high schools. These labs provide students the opportunity to discover untapped talent and aptitude that can be applied to an educational or career pathway.

Mayes County UAV: Google-Mayes County provided funding to support the establishment of an Unmanned Aerial Program at area school in Mayes County. Participants learn aerospace concepts, drone flying techniques and applications, as well drone construction and maintenance.

Mayes County FIRST Robotics Team (MCROBO): Five area schools collaborate to field a FIRST robotics teams in order to leverage resources. The team has dedicated space at the MidAmerica Technology and Career center and work with industry experts who mentor them through the program.

BMX STEM: MidAmerica, along with partner Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) have distributed thirty-three BMX STEM kits to area schools and work closely with the USABMX Foundation in support of STEM programming in area schools. MidAmerica will open a USABMX sanction track in June, 2019 for continued support of these programs.
