Finger Lakes (FLX) STEM Hub is a dynamic network of 120 K-12 and college educators, community organizations, businesses, family and youth providers, advocates, policymakers, researchers and funders. It serves as a catalyst for collaborations and communication among diverse partners to promote quality STEM education and career exploration opportunities for youth to make them college and career ready. It covers a nine county region in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes area of New York. It is a regional hub affiliated with the State University of New York’s Empire State STEM Learning Network. Thirteen businesses, colleges, and organizations now fund its operation. FLX is led by an Executive Director, Executive Committee representing its diverse constituencies, and chairs of a wide variety of volunteer committees. A strategic plan guides its priorities of professional development of educators, student engagement in quality STEM programming, community awareness and impactful partnerships. FLX creates opportunities for numerous collaborations by bringing together diverse constituencies through its programs. Hallmark initiatives include professional development and real-world industry-based experiences for educators, recognition of quality STEM programs, STEM forums, monthly roundtable of network members, funded projects, and a hub website(flxstem.org) of STEM events and clearinghouse opportunities.
