East Bay STEM Network
Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, CA
About
Since 2011, the East Bay STEM Network (formerly the Gateways Cradle to Career Education Initiative) has served as a leadership hub for regional stakeholders and convened educators, business and elected leaders, and non-profits to work toward systemic education reform in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We employ a Collective Impact approach to regularly convene key stakeholders—many of whom had not previously worked together— to forge a regional STEM education effort that Congresswoman Barbara Lee has lauded as one of the most effective in the nation. Focus areas include early childhood education, out-of-school learning, professional development for teachers, and the high school to college/career transition. Our network leverages existing STEM education assets to develop new capacity to scale and sustain effective STEM teaching and learning through collaboration and resource sharing.
