STEM Works East Central Ohio

East Central Ohio

About

STEM Works East Central Ohio is a community network championed by The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology, The Works’ STEM & Education Advisory Councils, and public-private partnerships. Shared goals include addressing the STEM skills gap and improving access to relevant STEM education for careers across the region. The Works, the STEM Advisory Council, and the Education Advisory Committee support a model for a STEM ecosystem that encompasses six counties selected because of location, education and unemployment challenges, and limited access to out-of-school STEM opportunities. The impetus to expand our ecosystem to these counties is grounded in practice, a history of partnerships, and the potential to cultivate new relationships.

Key Programs

STEMfest @ The Works – An annual STEM event that engages Middle School and High School youth in design-based problem solving challenges from a variety of disciplines that relate to what scientists and engineers encounter every day in their careers.

STEM Over Lunch – An annual lunch program that connects industry and education partners and engages them in conversation about how to improve STEM learning opportunities and career connections in our community.

Kids Tech University – Real scientists answering real questions! The Works Museum, in partnership with The Ohio State University at Newark and Denison University, team up to provide outstanding STEM educational experiences for youth ages 9-12.
