CREATE STEM Learning Ecosystem exemplifies a highly structured partnership model, engaging individuals across various sectors, including education, industry, community and government. The ecosystem’s organizational structure includes a Planning Team, Design Team, Working Groups, and the CREATE Center Development Team, ensuring a collaborative approach to STEM learning and workforce development.
VISION
We envision a future where all students, regardless of their background, have the skills, knowledge, and access needed to thrive in STEM fields. Through strong partnerships, community engagement, and resources, we will create a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation, empowers learners, and drives economic growth in our region.
KEY FOCUS AREAS
STEM Education & Access: CREATE supports both in-school and out-of-school STEM learning through professional development for educators, including AMSTI Specialists and instructional coaches. Six new STEM centers in Calhoun County highlight their commitment to hands-on learning.
Workforce Development & Alignment: Strong industry partnerships, including programs with Kronospan, Honda Manufacturing, and the New Flyer Group, ensure students gain technical and soft skills necessary for career readiness.
Community Collaboration: Engaging businesses, museums, and post-secondary institutions in STEM outreach events and career readiness programs provides students with real-world experiences.
Student Experiences: Collaborative efforts with local businesses, museums, and post-secondary institutions create dynamic opportunities for career exploration and workforce readiness.
Through its structured partnership model and diverse STEM initiatives, CREATE is building a sustainable, workforce-aligned learning ecosystem that prepares students for future careers in STEM and beyond.
GOALS
- Ensure a well-structured approach to communication, enhancing coordination among partners and increasing visibility within the community.
- Implement an across-the-curriculum K-12 Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiative, engaging 100% of students in real-world problem-solving projects each year. These projects will involve collaboration between students, classroom teachers, and local businesses and organizations, providing students with the opportunity to explore STEM technologies and careers, and measured by the percentage of teachers engaged in professional development and student PBLs.
- Host an educator summit where industry leaders will provide professional learning sessions focused on the skills needed for success in various industries. The summit will also build lasting partnerships between educators and industry representatives to enhance workforce readiness in education.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive STEM engagement plan that includes a structured curriculum, professional development for teachers, and community partnerships, aimed at increasing student interest and participation in STEM subjects.
- Each school system collaborates with at least one industry or community partner to connect students to career opportunities in STEM. Establish, nurture and strengthen existing partnerships within and outside the region.
