This project, Our Neighborhood, is intended to mobilize and align all sectors of an ecosystem – family and home, early childhood, K-12 school, post-secondary and training, out-of-school time, government and business and industry – to best support families in the education of their children.
With generous support and guidance from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Our Neighborhood, is a project of the STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice (SLECoP) and TIES and intends to give all leaders within ecosystems strategies and concrete actions to engage, sustain and uplift our families and communities.
Our Neighborhood should be shared widely to those who may find inspiration, ideas and possible blueprints to follow among the many resources organized throughout this website.
The resources in Our Neighborhood, which range from curated research to interviews to videotaped panel discussions, are organized by seven key categories.

Our Neighborhood’s Design Team, led by TIES and made up of family members, educators and others, has been instrumental in identifying and organizing the strategies and actions offered here to foster family and community engagement in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
Our Neighborhood, is a compilation of work and research from the field. It is intended to be a living repository and guidebook for STEM Learning Ecosystems and others interested in cultivating strong community partnerships to prepare the next generation.
Our Neighborhood is intended to be a living resource with frequent updates and new experiences regularly added by those in the field.
