The Los Angeles Regional STEM Hub seeks to connect the region’s leading professionals and educators in an effort to expand student access to high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), including critical thinking and the arts (STEAM), education and provide sustainable models for 21st century workforce and skills development.

Key Programs

Amgen Biotech Experience- Los Angeles Program
ABE empowers secondary school science teachers to implement real-world biotechnology labs in their classrooms, helping students better understand what science is and how it influences their daily lives.
The three-week in-class lab initiative provides teacher professional development, teaching materials, and research-grade equipment to classrooms to immerse students in the concepts and techniques scientists use to discover and develop medicines.

Annual State of STEM Convening
Highlight work being done in the STEM Hub region by schools, businesses, and community partners as part of the growing network.

2017 Convening included information regarding high demand/high growth STEM related biotechnology industries within L.A. County and its implications to our regional economy.
Discussions focused on expanding access to STEM education (cradle to career STEM pipeline).
