About

STEM NOLA is dedicated to creating a Cradle to Career alliance working to improve educational and career outcomes by aligning cross-sector partners around a shared inclusive community vision. The network of schools, out-of-school programs, early childhood providers, museums, science centers, higher education institutions, community-based groups, parent organizations, businesses and STEM professional organizations will identify common measures for high-quality STEM and map the STEM landscape to increase access, awareness, interest and engagement in STEM so that all students can graduate and enter the workforce STEM-literate. Given the educational landscape of the 10-parish Metropolitan New Orleans region, STEM NOLA seeks to: (1) To help youth, families and communities develop an interest in STEM and STEM based learning activities; (2) To develop the capacities of youth to engage in STEM-based activities for learning and recreation; (3) To inspire youth to value the opportunities and possibilities of STEM careers; (4) Expand educators’ capacity – both in the classroom and out-of-school settings-to ensure the targeted populations have access to and are engaged in successful programs, and (5) To help youth develop the necessary, and transferable 21st Century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Community.
