About

Washington STEM serves a powerful role as a backbone organization, convener, and catalyst for STEM education and workforce initiatives. Washington STEM invests in regional STEM Networks and strategic partnerships to spread effective practices across the state, helps expose students to the STEM career opportunities in their own community, and advocates for statewide policy change.

Washington STEM’s ten regional STEM Networks, or the Washington STEM Network, serve 57 percent of Washington’s K-12 students. Each STEM Network includes education, business, and community-based organizations. The lead organization and fiscal agent varies by community and include Chambers of Commerce, a community college, regional educational service districts, and nonprofits. Washington STEM supports its STEM Networks to develop results-driven business plans and provides implementation funds matched 1:1 by each local community.

As a critical part of our work, Washington STEM is forging formal partnerships with statewide organizations with aligned missions in order to leverage and coordinate complementary areas of expertise and functions and accelerate statewide impact. Partners to date include Code.org, LASER, TEALS, Thrive Washington, Washington State Opportunity Scholarship, School’s Out Washington, and Washington MESA.
